- ASB Santagrams - Looking to spread some holiday cheer to a school friend? Our ASB/Leadership class is selling Santagrams for $1 each starting next Monday, 12/15. They are sold in the Cafeteria before school from 7:30 – 8 am. See attached flier for more information.

- 12:30 pm dismissal tomorrow – There is a 12:30 pm dismissal for all Oak Grove students tomorrow, Monday, December 8.
- Grade 5-6 concert – The Grade 5-6 Winter Concert for Band, Orchestra, and Choir is tomorrow, Monday, December 8, in the Cafeteria. Grade 6 is at 8:25 am, and Grade 5 is at 9:20 am. Families are welcome!

- VUSD Fall Climate Survey – Oak Grove families are invited to complete the VUSD Fall Climate survey to provide specific feedback about your experience at Oak Grove. - Student survey Grades 5–12 – Starting Monday, December 8, all VUSD students in Grades 5-12 will take the Fall School Climate Student Survey. This survey is voluntary, and students may opt out if you wish. Corrections:
- Science Olympiad – The team qualifying tests for both Science Olympiad teams are this Wednesday, December 3, at 2:45pm in Room P1. The original flier did not include Grade 7-8 study materials, but this one does.
- Linked Learning Academy for current Grade 8 – VUSD offers Linked Learning Academies at its four comprehensive high schools: El Diamante, Golden West, Mt. Whitney, and Redwood. Incoming ninth-grade students may enroll in an academy based on their career interests, regardless of their school of residence. - School lost and found - Parents – please take a few minutes to look through our school lost and found for your student’s items, which is now located outside of our school library. After this Friday, all remaining items will be donated to a local charity.

- Student safety – We need your help, as we are hearing reports of some unsafe drivers near our school campus. Please be on the lookout for pedestrians and students before and after school. Please respect our crossing guards as they are keeping our children safe. Although it may take a few extra minutes to make your way through our area because of the traffic, safety is the most important action we can take for our community!
- Oak Grove gives back – Oak Grove families are invited to help with our charity “Hygiene Drive” to benefit Tulare County Family Services. Collections will occur in every homeroom November 10 – 21. See flier for more info.
- Holidays and conference – There is a normal school day this Monday – please bring your student to school! There is no school on Tuesday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day. Parent-teacher conferences start Monday, November 17. Please see the linked flier for information on these schedules and conferences from now through January.
- Science Olympiad – There is a Grade 3 – 6 Science Olympiad interest meeting on Wednesday, November 12, from 2:35 – 3:15 pm. See the linked flier for more information. We are also organizing a middle school team – more information to follow on that when available.

- CAASPP Celebration - Oak Grove is #1! Congratulations to our students, teachers, and staff for our success on the CAASPP testing last May. We are #1 in Visalia Unified in Science, ELA, and Math! To celebrate, we will have a special outside lunch, dance party and extended recess, and a pizza lunch for our Grade 4 – 8 students on Friday, October 31. We are all the “Hooos Who!” for this week – see linked certificate.

- Red Ribbon Week – Next Monday, October 27, is the start of Red Ribbon Week! Each day has a theme and a dress up day – see linked flier.
- School picture retakes – Reminder that this Thursday, October 23, is our school picture retakes day. If you want retakes, be sure to send the original pictures to school with your student as the photographer will collect them.
- PTA Fall Carnival – The Fall Carnival is almost here – this Friday, October 24, 5 – 8 pm. PTA is also looking for donations – use the QR code in the flier. Pre-sale tickets will be available before and after school tomorrow outside of the main office.

- Science Olympiad coach needed – We need your help! We are looking for 1-2 parents or community members who can be our school Science Olympiad coaches! This is a great way to interact and help our students compete in the Grade 4 – 8 Tulare County science events. Please contact Mr. Hambleton for more details. This is a paid or volunteer position. If we do not get a coach, we will not be able to have a team – please consider it – no experience necessary!

- Student drop-off safety and crosswalk reminders – Safety is important! Please review the attached document to review our school rules for student drop off and pickup, and reminders about cross walk safety.
- 8th Grade ASB Officer elections - All 8th Grade students who are interested in running for ASB officer this fall must complete and return the attached signature form by tomorrow, August 26. See Ms. Sanchez or Mr. Hambleton with any questions.
- 8th Grade Parents – Did you know that your 8th Grade student can earn high school math credits this year at Oak Grove? Please plan to attend our “8th Grade Math Parent Night” tomorrow, August 26, at 5:30 pm in our Cafeteria to learn more. You can also review the attached letter for more information.
- Labor Day – There is no school this Monday, September 1, for the Labor Day holiday.

Welcome, or welcome back, to Oak Grove School! I am looking forward to a new school year - one in which we help all our students learn and excel, provide engaging activities for students and families, and spend time together as an amazing Oak Grove community.
